Consecracted Women of Regnum Christi

Get to know us

We, Consecrated Women, are a part of a worldwide Catholic movement called Regnum Christi, Latin for “the Kingdom of Christ”. Regnum Christi exists to help laypeople live out their Baptismal call to holiness and mission. Regnum Christi comprises lay people (single and married), priests (The Legion of Christ), Lay Consecrated Men, and us, the lay Consecrated Women of Regnum Christi.

Being consecrated to God means God has set us apart, living a lifestyle that differs from the ordinary lay lifestyle. We embrace evangelical poverty, obedience, and chastity while living in a community with a local and regional superior. We have communities in over 26 countries. Locally, we are 10 Consecrated Women and 3 college missionaries serving the greater Houston area.

RC Mission Corps

RC Mission Corps is a 1-2 year Catholic youth and young adult missionary program that leads young people into a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ, forms them as Christian leaders and apostles, and sends them out to put their unique gifts and talents at the service of the evangelizing mission of the Church.

Katie Tuttle was born and raised in Columbus, Ohio. She met the Consecrated Women on a Regnum Christi mission trip to Mexico during Holy Week during her senior year of high school. She interrupted her undergraduate studies at the University of Dayton to discern her vocation. She was consecrated in 2003 and completed her formation in Greenville, Rhode Island, earning a Bachelor’s in Education and Development and a Master’s in Religious Sciences. She served as a mentor and formator for the young women in the Immaculate Conception Program in Michigan, then moved to Houston in 2016 to work in young adult ministry. She served as the community director for the Consecrated Women in Houston for 6 years and will transition into a new role as the Territorial Director in August.

Amelia Hoover is from Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She joined a discernment program in high school with the Consecrated Women of Regnum Christi. Amelia was consecrated in 2010, studied her Bachelor’s in Religious and Pastoral Studies, and then received her assignment to Washington, D.C. While in D.C., she completed a Youth Ministry Certificate Program through Franciscan University. Amelia served in ECYD for 8 years in the DC area and loved being able to accompany the young women to deep encounters with our Lord and greater confidence in their call to do great things for him. She continues as a mentor and formator for ECYD in Houston. Amelia is now serving as the director of the community of Consecrated Women and is a member of the Houston RC Local College.

Charlene Alexander has been consecrated since 1998. Giving women spiritual direction and accompaniment is her main ministry. She is passionate about marriage and the spiritual life and recently completed an extensive certification program through the Theology of the Body Institute in Aston, PA. Charlene’s “happy place” is living a family spirit in community life and teamwork in ministry. She enjoys using her former profession as a hair designer to cut hair for the consecrated women, besides making flower arrangements for the chapel, cooking, swimming, playing board games, and walking in nature.

Born in Mexico City, Patricia Camarero answered God’s call to consecrated life in Regnum Christi on August 15th, 1985. Patricia has many gifts. One of them is her doctoral thesis centered on the doctrine of human love in the thought of Thomas Aquinas and Edith Stein. Patricia loves her family, nature, music, and watercolor painting. She arrived at the Houston community in 2015, where she supports the pastoral ministry with women, spiritual direction, and retreats.

Angie Hilbun is from Baton Rouge, Louisiana. In her early college years, Angie volunteered in National Evangelization Teams in Australia. Shortly after, drawn to the evangelizing characteristic of Regnum Christi, she joined the RC Young Women’s College Team at LSU in 1999 and, in 2000, became consecrated to God. She currently ministers to college students and young professionals in Houston. Angie received a bachelor’s degree in Educational Sciences and Pastoral Studies from Anahuac University, a bachelor’s degree in Religious Sciences from Regina Apostolorum, and a master’s degree in Theology. She specializes in consecrated life, spiritual direction, and the 19th Annotation of Ignatian Spiritual Exercises. Angie’s preferred place to be is enjoying a relaxing community day outdoors or on retreat, playing sports, and being with friends and family.

Lourdes Perez was born in Mexico City, where she grew up and met the Movement through her school. Lu joined RC in high school and was a missionary in Overbrook Academy in 2004-2005. Before being consecrated, she earned a degree in Communication from Anahuac University in Mexico City and worked at Hewlett-Packard for a year in marketing.

She was consecrated in 2010 and studied in Monterrey for 4 years, where she earned a bachelor’s in Religious and Pastoral Studies and received an assignment to Atlanta, GA, to work with ECYD, where she was for 1 year. After this year, she moved to Rhode Island, where she served at Overbrook Academy for seven years. Five years as a Formation Instructor and two years as the Formation Director. Four of these years, she also served as the Local Director for the RCMC. She is serving in Houston as part of the Youth team. She is also the Director of the RCMC program in North America.

Kristina Piñero is a lay consecrated woman in the Society of Apostolic Life, Consecrated Women of Regnum Christi. She has served in pastoral ministry for over thirty years, working in various regions of the United States and in Mexico, Spain, Italy, and Israel. Her primary ministry has focused on evangelization and catechetical formation for children, youth, and adults.

She has also served as principal at two schools, one in Monterrey, Mexico, and another in Rhode Island, USA. She holds two master’s degrees, in Religious Sciences and in Spirituality, and earned her Doctor of Ministry from the Oblate School of Theology in San Antonio. 

Kristina is an Adjunct Faculty member at the Mexican American Catholic College in San Antonio, where she teaches candidates in permanent diaconate formation, first-year seminarians, and courses in Children’s Spirituality. She also serves as a consultant and speaker for the Children’s Initiatives Project at MACC and regularly presents on catechetics and evangelization for children and families. 

She enjoys music, time in prayer and in nature, and the privilege of accompanying others on their journeys of faith.

Jill Swallow grew up in a family of five in the small town of Versailles, Ohio, where she was involved in a parish youth group, marching band, cheerleading, student council, and various choirs. She studied Early Childhood Education at Miami University in Oxford for two years and then perceived a call from God to total consecration and missionary work. Jill spent the first eight years of her consecrated life at Mater Ecclesia College in Rhode Island (a formation center for consecrated women), as both a student and a dean of students for the freshman and sophomore classes. When she wasn’t studying or running activities, Jill was busy directing the choir and recording music CDs! Prior to her assignment in Houston, Jill served within ECYD and Regnum Christi in the Ohio Valley and as Formation Director at Everest Collegiate High School and Academy in Clarkston, Michigan.

Monica Treviño, a native of Monterrey, Mexico, consecrated her life to Jesus in 1993 and is now serving as a spiritual director for married women in Houston. She recently graduated summa Cum Laude from the Notre Dame Graduate School of Christendom College, graduating with an MA in Theological Studies with a concentration in consecrated life. She enjoys walking in nature, especially seeing sunsets, reading, and photography.
